Iraq was included in the annual “Best Bank Awards” this year for the first time ever. New York based “Global Finance”, an influential banking publication, has included Iraq in it’s survey this year.

Quoted from Basil Al-Dhahi, CBIQ’s Managing Director:

‘It is indeed gratifying to be named best bank in Iraq in the first ever country category by Global Finance. This award signifies a double win, for CBIQ as much as for the Iraqi banking sector at large.’

Late in 2008, CBIQ also became the first Iraqi bank to receive a license from Mastercard International to issue credit and debit cards.
