Election Law Vetoed by Iraqi VP

Adam Montana

First of all, I’m a bit ticked right now. I’m upset that the mainstream media takes something that could be nothing, and twists it until it still resembles the truth, but is far from it at the same time. Did you ever notice how the media will completely skip stories of hundreds of good deeds… and embellish the horrible news? It happens all the time, and the main reason is this: SALES. Every single news agency out there is in competition with each other, and the ones with the most dramatic headlines are the ones that sell the most advertising, which makes them successful.

People see a headline that announces a good deed, and they smile and walk on by. Maybe they feel good inside, maybe they feel the need to do a good deed as well, because so much is right in the world… but they don’t buy the newspaper. When you see a headline that describes horrible news, though – you buy the paper and take it with you, planning on reading every detail at the first possible moment!

It’s sad, but it’s true. Pain and misery sell a lot more papers than happiness and good deeds. Case in point: how often do you hear about all the GOOD things happening in Iraq? Need some examples? Take a look here at why Iraq is a good investment. That’s stuff you simply don’t hear about from the mainstream media, because it doesn’t sell papers!

This is just as true when it comes to Iraq as it is to our homelands, wherever we might be from. Enough of my ranting, though – let’s talk about the news that Iraq VP Tariq al-Hashemi has vetoed the Iraqi election law. That’s what all the articles are stating, right?

Actually, that’s not true at all.

hashemi vetoes election lawIraq Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi has only rejected Article 1 in the Iraqi election law proposal, and he also insisted that this veto need not delay the elections. WHAT?! This need not delay the elections, you say? How can this be possible if the Iraqi Election law has been vetoed?!

It’s simple, actually. While the “Negative Nancy’s” of the world are pushing doom and gloom, your buddy Adam Montana is digging deeper into the politics of the Iraqi people and understanding that this Article 1 rejection is a good thing. Article 1 in the election law allows for 5% of the displaced Iraqi people to be represented in the elections. If you’ve been keeping up with my blog, you’ll remember a recent article that talked about the Kirkuk territory dispute. This dispute is largely centered around the Sunnis, which is also thought to be the majority of the displaced Iraqi people who would be represented in this move by Iraq VP Tariq al-Hashemi. This dispute is also a major factor in the HCL issue, but  I’ll save that for another article.

If there is a significantly larger portion of Iraq with significantly more power, especially considering the religious history of any of those groups that hang in imabalanced power, there will be trouble in the entire land. Civil wars will be inevitable in the near future. Chaos would ensue, and all of the work that has been done could easily be undone.

However, by making a move that allows for more balance, by negotiating for a stronger representation of one of the major people’s of Iraq, Iraqi VP Tariq al-Hashemi is potentially ensuring Iraq has a better chance at long term stability.

Long term stability is important to Dinar Speculation, wouldn’t you agree?

I have been following the dinar for several months, and there have been several issue’s that have came up concerning the R/I. Now, I do not see what the election law has to do with an R/I(chapter 7 yes, but EL no) So if someone could explain to me what the EL has to do with the R/I beside “more Stability” I would appeciate it.

Adam, Thanks for the post and I agree that Al Hashemi is doing the right thing. Although, the Iraqi’s that I have spoken to show disgust for the GOI’s bickering over available seats…this comes from Sunni, Shia and Kurdish Iraqi friends…but this was to be expected from the masses on the streets (they typically show very little trust in their Government).

Not sure if anyone is reading this from Iraq but ARNOLD IS COMING TO BAGHDAD! This has nothing to do with Dinar Specualtion, but the LN(Local National) Barber from Baharia said he would ask around about the currency situation in Baghdad when he goes to meet the Golden Oak. I’ll keep ya posted.
